The record-level 'source' and 'as_of' describe demand, fuel mix, carbon intensity and renewable share ONLY -- those a live feed does update, and a record may therefore read 'eia-live' while its price remains modelled. Do not read the record-level source as applying to the price. 'price_basis' says whether a wholesale spot market exists at all: 'no_wholesale_market' means a single buyer or vertically integrated franchise sets rates and price_usd_mwh is null, while 'not_reviewed' means a value is published and WHETHER THE MARKET IT CLAIMS TO COME FROM EXISTS HAS NOT YET BEEN AUDITED. Treat every price here as a modelled reference pending that review, and do not compare two markets' prices as if both were observed at the same instant. 'renewable_pct' counts wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biofuel, and is now DERIVED from 'fuel_mix' on the same record, so it cannot drift from it. It previously came from a separately hand-authored field and 13 markets disagreed with their own mix -- Ontario published 90 against a 34% renewable, 56% nuclear mix, because a live-feed handler counted nuclear as renewable. Those values are corrected. It is identical to 'renewable_generation_share_pct'; use either. 'low_carbon_generation_share_pct' adds nuclear. Nuclear is low-carbon and is not renewable, which is why these are separate fields: a renewables procurement mandate and a carbon target ask different questions. 'firm_headroom_mw' is firm (dispatchable + reliable) capacity minus the estimated annual peak; a negative value means peak demand exceeds firm capacity, so the grid leans on non-firm supply and imports at peak, and 'peak_stress_pct' above 100 flags the same thing.
