Connection-time read curated from grid-operator and reform reporting (PJM, NESO, AEMO and others). Interconnection-queue position, not generation supply, is usually what decides whether a project can energize. Markets without a defensible read are not shown.
🌀 Cheap-Power Windows · where a flexible load buys surplus low, cheapest hours first
Cheapest-hour price is modelled from each grid's daily price cycle and current price; renewable share and installed battery fleet are real where tracked. A load that shifts into the cheap hours, or a co-located battery, captures this surplus. Not a metered curtailment figure.

Unsubsidized levelized cost of energy (LCOE), from Lazard LCOE+ and IRENA, with nuclear variants from the IEA/NEA Projected Costs study and NEI. LCOE already spreads each plant's upfront cost across its full operating life, so it is the lifetime-average cost per MWh. For nuclear that life is long and running costs are low, so an existing or life-extended plant is about $30 to $45/MWh, among the cheapest power here. New nuclear's cost is set by capex, build time and above all the cost of capital: at a low, regulated discount rate (China, Korea) it is roughly $55 to $105/MWh, while a Western merchant-financed first-of-a-kind with overruns runs $142 to $222/MWh. Renewables' low LCOE excludes the cost of firming intermittency (storage, backup, transmission). Local costs vary; this is the global picture.
