Interconnection queues overstate what will actually get built: of the generation and storage capacity that entered US queues from 2000 to 2020, about 75 percent withdrew before connecting (LBNL, Queued Up). This page discounts each market's raw queue by its own historical drop-out rate, giving the capacity plausibly heading for operation rather than the headline number. These are generation and storage queues. They measure how congested the interconnection system is; they do not measure how long a new large load waits. Where an operator publishes a separate large-load queue, we show it as its own figure. The 12 markets with a countable queue are ranked; the other 67 are shown by demand read alone.

The demand read is a plain-language call on demand pressure and how much of the queue looks real; the underlying 0 to 100 pressure score (demand growth, forward-capacity tightness, data-centre share) is shown small as the sort key. The queue column counts generation and storage requests, discounted by each market's historical withdrawal rate; it is not a forecast of load. Queue wait is the typical end-to-end wait in that generation queue, and the lands-by year applies it to today. It indicates interconnection congestion, not a connection time quoted to a large load. In Northern Virginia, Dominion has said large data centres over 100 MW can wait up to seven years, and PJM's reformed queue is only now targeting a one-to-two-year study cycle. This separates genuine load from queue spam; it is our opinion, not a forecast.
